Message From Glenn Posted Thursday, December 21 2006

Hi everyone,

My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you this holiday season....

I took Gab to her office as I was picking her up at 5.00 to go to Chad and Nancy's Xmas party. When I pulled in my drive, the pool Man was leaving, so, I go in the house and the dogs' were goin' crazy. Then I noticed the debris and saw drawers and clothes even the ashes of Lamont, Simka and Pookie had been thown on the floor out of their little caskets. I found Hughy and Princess hiding under one of the couches.

I started to feel sick to my stomach. How could they have got into my fortress? There is a wall and high fence around my property, you can't enter from the road, there is an outer gate that has to be security opened, and then you have to walk thru a courtyard. They got in thru a side door, and left by the patio overlooking the pool, that would be the patio in the mastersuite...they took a lot of extremely valuable jewellry belonging to Gab and myself, around $100,000 worth.

We are both fine, but feel terribly violated. The police team that took our case were very kind and cordial, let's wait and see what happens, these were very personal items that my wife and I had given to each other on birthday's and Xmas.

Like I have said before, there are no mistakes in Gods world, but I can tell you this. In the morning, I have enough security people and surveilance to make our home Fort Knox West.... we are all ok.

Merry Xmas 2 you all and love one another.....

Glenn

GLENN guests on Ken Hensley's new album! Posted Wednesday, November 29 2006

Some great news from former-Uriah Heep Ken Hensley's website:

An update on the studio recordings by Ken Hensley:

"Hola....
I just enjoyed an incredible day in the studio with Glenn Hughes who is singing (in his own amazing way) two songs on the new CD, Blood On The Highway. I am really lucky to have so many great vocal performances on this record and I am especially thankful to Glenn who came to Alicante directly from his recently completed European tour!! It's always cool to spend time with a fellow "road-warrior" and we made time to share some stories and to chat about doing some things together in the coming year. I'll keep you posted on all of that but, in the meantime we have to prepare for more guest singers over the next few weeks!".

See a photo of GLENN and Ken in the studio here!

GLENN will be headlining a special week long event in KAVARNA, BULGARIA, on MONDAY AUGUST 21st at the KALIAKRA STADIUM.

The event, translated as 'THE WEEK OF THE SEA', a celebration of the people and region of the Black Sea, is organised by Bulgarian 'Man Of The Year', and Mayor of Kavarna, TSONKO TSONEV. Mr Tsonev was responsible for inviting Glenn for the New Year's Eve show in Karvarna, as well as being the man behind the concerts by Whitesnake, Deep Purple, Scorpions, etc in Kavarna.

Mr Tsonev says; "Myself and the people of Bulgaria are very proud to be able to invite Glenn back to Kavarna again, and we are especially proud that, after sharing New Year's Eve with him, we will also be sharing Glenn's birthday with him during a time of celebration for the people of our region".

GLENN says that he is very happy and honoured to be going back to play for the wonderful people of Bulgaria and his good friend Tsonko Tsonev.

There is no admission for the concert - it is Mr Tsonev's personal "thank you" to the people as part of the week long celebration for the region, as well as being an open invitation for GLENN fans everywhere to come and experience the concert and Black Sea region of Bulgaria.

There is a possibility that GLENN will be shooting a video clip during his time in Bulgaria.

Chad is finding the time for this show in between finishing the RHCP London Earls Court shows, and going to Japan with the Peppers for Fuji Rock.

This promises to be as incredible as last years Spanish shows with Chad, and it will most likely be the last chance to see the pair together for some time, making it all the more exclusive and unique.

Although GLENN will be playing in Italy during the Music For The Divine tour (dates to be confirmed), the Rome show presents a rare opportunity to see Glenn's supercharged funk, rock and soul with the amazing Chad Smith on the drums.

Australia live dates in June - acoustic only Posted Friday, May 26 2006

GLENN looks set to head to Australia in the coming weeks. With writing sessions booked with Australian rock legend, JIMMY BARNES, negotiations are taking place for GLENN to play Australian dates.

It looks set for the period 16th-20th June and will include Melbourne, Sydney and possibly 2-3 Queensland shows. The famous Sydney club, The Basement, is trying to free up a show day for either 17th or 18th June.

Please note that these will be ACOUSTIC shows only and JJ Marsh will be accompanying him for Australian promotion purposes, so it is NOT the full band shows! They will be amazing, but it is NOT the Australian Glenn Hughes tour.....that is still being planned for a later date!

So stay tuned for more details in the coming days.....

VH-1 Heavy: The Story Of Metal interview Posted Friday, May 19 2006

Last year during the brief promotion for Fused, GLENN was in New York and was interviewed by VH-1 for a segment to be included in their upcoming rockumentary series, Heavy: The Story Of Metal.

It gets it first airing starting this Monday, May 22nd (9:00PM EST) thru May 29th.

GLENN is supposed to be featured in the first of the four featured episodes.

You can find out more details such as air date schedules etc by visiting the VH-1 website:

http://www.vh1.com/shows/dyn/heavy_the_story_of_metal/series_showtimes.jhtml

Metal is rock's untamed wild child. Metal is rude, crude, irreverent and irrepressibly loud. Metal is rock and roll just as it's supposed to be, which is why everyone from Black Sabbath to Iron Maiden to Motley Crue to Slayer to Slipknot, have been hated by critics, feared by parents, attacked by politicians, and blamed for most of the world's ills. So how did a combination of the devil and decibels become such an irresistible lure to generations of metal fans around the world?

What Ken Burns did for jazz, VH1 does for heavy metal - only a lot louder. Heavy: The Story of Metal, traces the evolution of heavy metal music and culture, from its dark, grim beginnings in Birmingham, England to the worldwide force that it remains to this day.

In a series of four chronological hours, Heavy: The Story of Metal, explores four decades of music, each hour examining this powerful and often misunderstood genre, from metal's pioneers to its love of glam and excess; from the fight for metal's rebellious soul to its storied flirtation with the devil.

Chad talks Music For The Divine! Posted Sunday, April 9 2006

Yesterday, we managed to catch up with Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers) for a few minutes. Glenn and Chad

Here are some highlights from our conversation - we managed to get his thoughts on Music For The Divine and working & hangin' with GLENN. We kicked things off by asking him about the inclusion, of what turns out to be, a remix of Nights In White Satin.

Chad talks Music For The Divine

Unfortunately, our conversation was cut short rather abruptly due to some unexpected guests arriving at his door, so the running time is just under 10 minutes sad.gif Plus he was having a busy day, due to the fact he was heading out to UK later in the day, and being away on the road most of the rest of the year!

Anyway, we hope to catch up with him again somewhere along the way later in the year for a longer conversation.

Meantime, enjoy cool.gif

 March 2006 Interview @ Rockdetector.com Posted Friday, March 31 2006

MOVIN' ON ... GLENN HUGHES 'SOUL MOVER' IS STILL CREATING WAVES.

AS THE ALBUM FINALLY GETS RELEASED IN AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND, GLENN IS ALREADY INTO NEW MUSIC - MUSIC FOR THE DIVINE NO LESS!

Fans of GLENN HUGHES must be squirming in delight this year. Widely regarded as one of the very greatest voices in Rock, Glenn has steadily built up his solo career to a fitting climax with the release last year of the quite superb 'Soul Mover'. Strangely, despite the hugely positive feedback and a significant upsurge in sales, some major territories did not get serviced with the album. All that is now being addressed. As 'Soul Mover' finally goes fully global, Glenn has a brand new album in the offing, billed 'Music For The Divine', some ambitious concert plans and the long awaited release of the second HUGHES/THRALL opus.

New album title - Music For The Divine Posted Thursday, March 9 2006

We spoke with GLENN today and he wanted to let everyone know about the new album title - it's expected to receive a mid-June release date sleep.gif

++

Hi everyone,

I want to let you know before it slips out or rumours start about the new album title - the title is....

MUSIC FOR THE DIVINE

.....the title is very important to me - when you hear the music, you'll understand the meaning. The title speaks to me, as all the previous one's have. Divine is goodness and is a statement to the fans that really understand my music.

The album has deep lyrical and spiritual meaning and once again is where I'm at, at the present time. I do not wish to tread into the past and so this album is a major step forward to me. This is my most honest and artistic album. I am very glad to know that things have continued to grow along spiritual lines.

Because of the amazing changes in my life, that have happened since 'Soul Mover', it has given me a creative output and encouragement to make this new album. When I was growing up in England, my favourite bands & artists were always growing and morphing and continually reinventing themselves and this CD, I believe, has captured all of those elements.

Expect a release date in the second week of June.

See you all soon,

Glenn

Session with Quiet Riot.... Posted Wednesday, March 8 2006

Looks like GLENN will indeed do more than just writing for the upcoming new album from Quiet Riot......he's now also due to do a duet with Kevin DuBrow, in addition to the bass work on one track, the Spooky Tooth classic,
"Evil Woman", according to a message from Kevin a couple of months ago.

Meantime, Frankie Banali writes....

"I am thrilled to report that another very dear friend Tony Franklin will be playing bass on the new CD. I have had the opportunity to work with some wonderful bass players in my career, but none better than Tony. He is the bass players "bass player" and a pleasure to play with. Very soon we will be ready for Mr. Kevin DuBrow to record the vocals.

Kevin has come up with some truly inspiring vocals on this one, and as a bonus we will have Glenn Hughes on a vocal duet with Kevin on a special song with Glenn also contributing his unique bass playing to that one track as well. This will be the first track since the 1982 "Hughes/Thrall" release that Glenn and I are the recorded rhythm section. I hope that those who are fans of QUIET RIOT will be both pleased and surprised with the new CD. Everyone else, like it or not can make up their own minds. At the moment, it's all good with QUIET RIOT!"

 Hughes/Thrall 2 due in 2007 Posted Sunday, February 19 2006

Hot on the heels of the news that HUGHES/THRALL will be getting a remastered re-release this year, we received some even more thrilling news from GLENN today!

GLENN and PAT THRALL are working closely together again and plan on releasing the long-awaited, HUGHES/THRALL 2, in 2007. Currently, there will be 9 songs in total and in late February/early March, they will be going into the studio to record 7 brand new songs and also to re-record 2 others (that have seen the light of day before) as part of some demos recorded back in the day and had ended up on bootlegs, which we're sure some of you have heard before!

A couple of months later, in May, they will finalize and mix the new recordings in Los Angeles, so it will be completed by the Summer. Again, it will see a release early on in 2007.

This is great news - so expect a heavy, almost metal, super funk rock record!!

Meantime and to tide us over, one or two officially unreleased but re-recorded songs (!!) will appear exclusively on the HUGHES/THRALL remastered release.

New Album - recording begins! Posted Tuesday, January 10 2006

GLENN is home after returning from Bulgaria last week and is now in full swing with the recording process for his new solo album. JJ is of course, also now Stateside and yesterday, they were both over at Chad's house to continue the sessions.

Glenn, Chad Smith and JJ Marsh

Picture Courtesy: Nancy Mack Smith / Gabrielle Hughes

As you'll remember from a recent press interview, GLENN informed us about some of the details of the new record....."I've written more songs than ever before on this record, there are maybe 25 songs we've got on the chalkboard, and 12 will make the record. It's funk, rock, soul, and pop all mixed together in a big soup. I'm probably going to have some real strings and maybe some more orchestrated songs. This one, and I'll quote Chad here, is going to be the most varied record I've ever done."

Hughes and Smith have been close friends for several years; Smith also co-produced Hughes' 2005 album "Soul Mover" and will fill the same role on the new release. "While writing new music for this record, Chad and I thought it would be great to have John come in, write and play on a couple of the tunes," Hughes says. "John has written a song specifically for me. John Frusciante is quite possibly the most musical person I've ever met. He is 'at one' with his guitar, and I've never met anyone quite so insanely dedicated to the craft of writing and playing an instrument."

The album will be recorded at Smith's home in the Hollywood Hills and is tipped to feature tracks like "Oil and Water," "Frail," "Black Light," "Stepping On" and "The Valiant Denial." Also playing on the set will be guitarist J.J. Marsh, who has appeared on Hughes' last several solo releases.

Feb.12th Soul Mover released in Australia Posted Wednesday, January 4 2006

Hughes/Thrall remaster due soon... Posted Wednesday, January 4 2006

Rock Candy Records based in the UK, will be releasing a remastered edition of the classic Glenn Hughes & Pat Thrall album, Hughes/Thrall, just after Summer of this year.

Assembled from the 1/2" production masters which were stored in the UK, we've been told and we quote..."you'll be blown away, it's spectacular"!

Both Glenn and Pat are involved in the remaster, so it's legite and it wouldn't surprise us if there's a small bonus thrown in!

Rock Candy Records is headed up by former Kerrang! rock journalists, Derek Oliver and Dante Bonutto. The label is dedicated to detailed re-issues of vintage hard rock and AOR classics from the '70s, '80s and '90s.

In the Studio this month.... Posted Sunday, January 1 2006

Glenn in the Studio

GLENN will be entering the studio this month to begin recording his new solo album.

It's not just any studio, but in fact, the Hollywood Hills home of none other than Red Hot Chili Pepper's drummer, Chad Smith, who will also be playing on it. The former home of Hollywood movie star, Cary Grant, it has wide expansive vaulted ceilings providing fantastic acoustics, which they plan on utilizing to the fullest!

Joining Glenn and Chad will be JJ Marsh and another Red Hot Chili Pepper (!!), John Frusciante who has written a song for the new record and will most likely provide other contributions to the record. Smith also co-produced Hughes' 2005 album "Soul Mover" and will fill the same role on the new release. "[While] writing new music for this record, Chad and I thought it would be great to have John come in, write and play on a couple of the tunes," Glenn says. "John has written a song specifically for me."

It's tipped to feature tracks such as "Oil and Water," "Frail," "Black Light," "Stepping On" and "The Valiant Denial."

Ryan Hewitt is to be the engineer and mixer for the new record. He's worked with the Chili Peppers, Blink-182, U2, Bon Jovi, Billy Joel and many others.

They'll be a new video shot in early February and they're talking to Jim LaRocca about that - you may remember, he directed Days Of Avalon. It's unsure which song yet, but it'll be filmed at Chad's other home in Malibu, California.

It sounds like it's 'gonna be one divine album wink.gif

Stay tuned for further updates as they come in.....
