Hi everyone,
Just wanted to let you know you can now also find me on Facebook...you know, that other social site!
Here’s the link, be sure and sign-up to post on the Wall - something funky I hope!
The shows in Minsk and Odessa were very emotional....there were a lot of fans gettin’ carried away, and there were a lot of tears out there....it was also refreshin’ to see everyone groovin’ to the music of the older songs. We extended a coupla’ songs with some space funk jammin’. To my surprise, everyone went along with me....I think my audience by now knows that the underlying theme of a GH show is about the groove.
They are mental about MK III and 1V in this part of the world , but they really freaked over "Don’t Let Me Bleed", "You Got Soul", "Steppin’ On", and "Soul Mover".
Can’t wait to give ’em some off the F U N K later on this year when I return for a full Eastern European tour.
Gettin’ ready to hit the road in a couple weeks to throw down the songs off the new F U N K album.....it is the start of a new chapter for me.....it is the right time....I’m in London as I write to you....I’m Itchin’ to GO!!!!!!!

Deep Purple convention in UK
Posted Friday, March 21 2008
Wymer UK is pleased to announce a Deep Purple convention celebrating the momentous occasion of forty years since the inception of this classic hard rock band with a 12-hour marathon of all things Purple.
The event will be held on Saturday 3rd May at Esquires Club in Bedford (UK), just 40 minutes from London St Pancras railway station.
Unlike most conventions we are also pleased to announce that there will be appearances from two former band members:
- GLENN HUGHES will be making a personal appearance with a "Q & A" session as well as doing a unique acoustic performance of classic MKIII & IV songs.
GLENN will also be promoting his new album that should be released on the Monday following this performance.
- Original Purple bassist Nick Simper will be performing with his band the Good Old Boys.
- Rounding off the live music will be a set of Purple classics performed by Burn.
In addition to this there will be guest speakers including Ian Hansford (Purple's first roadie from 1968-73) and Ritchie Blackmore's former personal assistant, Rob Fodder.
During the day there will be video screenings of rare material, plus competitions, trade stalls and of course topping it all off the live music (as listed above) in the evening, finishing around midnight.
A splendid day is guaranteed for all Purple fans so come along, meet other like-minded fans and join in the fun. The Esquires club is an intimate venue and tickets are limited so order now to avoid disappointment.
Tickets can be ordered online from the MBTP Store.
Artist: GLENN HUGHES Title: FIRST UNDERGROUND NUCLEAR KITCHEN Label: Frontiers Records Rel.Date: 09/05/2008 (May 9th 2008) Cat.Num.: FR CD 371 Barcode: 8024391037126
Vocalist/bass guitarist/songwriter Glenn Hughes is a true original. No other rock musician has carved such a distinctive style blending the finest elements of hard rock, soul and funk. That astonishing voice is Hughes' calling card. He's known as a singer's singer: in fact, Stevie Wonder once called Hughes his favourite white singer.
Hughes, a native of Cannock, England, absorbed all kinds of influences, including early British hard rock, the Beatles and, most importantly, American soul and R&B. The sleek Motown sound from Detroit and the gritty Stax/Volt sound from Memphis left their mark on him.
The first important band Hughes was a member of that achieved notable success was Trapeze, while in 1973 he joined one of the most popular bands in the world, Deep Purple. The trailblazing hard-rock legends had just weathered the departure of vocalist Ian Gillan and bass guitarist Roger Glover, but guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, keyboardist Jon Lord and drummer Ian Paice continued with the addition of Hughes and David Coverdale. Any scepticism was squelched with the 1974 release of Burn. This stunning album rejuvenated the band and stands tall among Deep Purple classics.
In the halcyon days, Purple headlined at the famous California Jam in 1974 in front of quarter of a million people. World tours via Purple's own jet plane, 'The Starship' and two more studio albums later, (the Hughes influenced Stormbringer and Come Taste the Band), Deep Purple finally split in 1976.
Now living in Los Angeles, Glenn's first solo album Play Me Out was released in 1977. He joined former Pat Travers guitarist Pat Thrall to form Hughes/Thrall, which released an acclaimed self-titled album in 1982. Throughout the '80s and '90s, Hughes made countless guest appearances (both credited and un-credited) as a vocalist, bass guitarist or songwriter on other artists' albums, in particular he appeared on the vastly underrated Seventh Star, was officially credited as 'Black Sabbath Featuring Tony Iommi'. Hughes and Iommi remained friends and in the past few years they have released one brand new studio album together.
More commercial recognition came when the KLF dubbed Glenn Hughes 'The Voice of Rock', proudly featuring him on their international best selling hit single America- What Time is Love'
Since 1992, Hughes has toured extensively in Europe, Japan and South America in support of solo albums such as Blues, From Now On..., Feel, Addiction, The Way It Is, Return Of Crystal Karma, Building The Machine, Songs In The Key Of Rock, Soul Mover and Music For The Divine.
Soul Mover saw the continuation of the successful creative partnership with Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith that began with Glenn's live DVD Soulfully Live in the City of Angels (2004). Soul Mover was voted 12th best album of the year by highly influential UK magazine CLASSIC ROCK.
After the release of his last studio album, the successful Music For The Divine in 2006, 2007 saw Glenn make successful tours of Russia, South America, Italy, Norway and Spain, along with solo dates in London - at the prestigious Shepherds Bush Empire - Bulgaria and Greece. 2007 also saw Glenn headline at festival appearances in France and Norway. Glenn also took part in the Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp in New York, which was highly successful and he also appeared as a guest presenter at the Classic Rock Awards in both 2006 and 2007. Another highlight of a diverse and colourful year were the 2 sold out solo shows at the famous Whisky in Los Angeles and BB King's in New York.
Glenn's new studio album, FIRST UNDERGROUND NUCLEAR KITCHEN is the latest chapter in an extraordinary musical evolution, and is quite possibly the most compelling and positive musical statement in a distinguished career already abundant with highlights and milestones. Chad Smith again plays out of his skin on the drums, and Glenn has rarely ' if ever- sounded more inspired, written with such grace, or sung with more passion.
Make no mistake: the Voice of Rock never left the building.

Back Home again
Hi Everyone,
Just returned home to LA from London.
The Childline Show was a great event, and it was great to see some good friends, who I had not seen in a while. Each Artist sang a couple of songs, and I really enjoyed singin' in London last Thursday evening.
As you all know, I've had this awful Flu strain 4 the past month, but, just in time, I was starting to feel better a few days ago, so, it's back to the gym, and to regular routine....I thought I was never gonna shake it!
I am glad you are enjoying the samples of the new songs....like I have said, it's really hard to talk about music, I just wanna play the songs now....it's all I think about.....Its nice 2 move 4ward.
I will see the first edit of the video for Love Communion next week....it was fun, Filmin' this song....so natural, and free.
You need to know that I have found great happiness since makin' these new songs....a little wiser, more relaxed...but mighty determined to break new ground.
I was so very, very glad to see Melville last weekend...As you know, we had the B'day Party 4 him last Saturday, and I was able to spend some one on one time with him the following day, in a quieter enviroment. We are brothers...I love him dearly....Trapeze were the best damn trio out there....we were kids, and we outplayed 'em all.....Mel's Music will live with us 4ever, and I will honor this.
I have 10 days @ home now....i need to prepare 4 the Road ahead.... I love this life...God has been Good to me.....here we go....

F U N K audio preview
Posted Wednesday, March 12 2008
Frontiers Records is pleased to present all the details about the release of the highly anticipated GLENN HUGHES new album entitled First Underground Nuclear Kitchen (F.U.N.K.) on May 9th, 2008.
Produced by GLENN in Los Angeles, after countless hours spent writing in his home studio, "F.U.N.K." is another magnificent statement from the "Voice of Rock".
"It is a roots album, it is a true account of my musical heritage but also fearless and multi-dimensional".
Once again GLENN has reinvented himself and his art, being able to offer a new album which is truly emotional and picturing his own current way to speak the language of music.
"The beauty of makin’ music, for me", explains the former Deep Purple singer and bassist, "is to have a vast blank canvas. To completely open myself up to the universe and the spirits, that these days, live with me day and night. I am no longer in fear of the dark, or what lurks behind door number 13. The songs on my new album were written in, and around my Los Angeles home, sometimes in semi-consciousness... sometimes, in a dreamstate, sometimes fully alert, as I was in full jog down by the harbour... these new songs are a true vindication. And realization, of the gift of a serene life, one day at a time".
The result is a brilliant balance of the diverse influences that have always been present in Glenn’s music, but with an incredible and very addictive mood that helps creating a feeling of joy and true enjoyment all over the album. "I believe that the hard work has been worth waitin’ 4, this is 4 all my fans, and beyond: a deep Musical Statement", concludes GLENN.
Once again all drums on the record were played by none other than the great Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, while Luis Maldonado took care of the majority of the guitars (JJ Marsh and George Nastos only appear on 2 songs each) and Anders Olinder is on keyboards (with Ed Roth guesting on 3 songs).
Final tracklisting of "F.U.N.K." includes the following tracks:
Crave First Underground Nuclear Kitchen Satellite Love Communion We Shall Be Free Imperfection Never Say Never We Go To War Oil And Water Too Late to Save the World Where There’s A Will
GLENN has just finished shooting a promo video for the fist single 'Love Communion' which will be included on the CD as special bonus: stay tuned for an exclusive preview on YouTube soon!

"Vocalist/bass guitarist/songwriter Glenn Hughes is a true original. No other rock musician has carved such a distinctive style, blending the finest elements of hard rock, soul and funk. That astonishing voice is Hughes' calling card. He's known as a singer's singer. In fact, Stevie Wonder once called Hughes his favourite white singer. The KLF famously dubbed him 'The Voice of Rock' after Glenn provided the incredible vocals for their international mega hit 'What Time is Love', and since then, the name has stuck, and few - if any - would refute it.
Finding enormous international fame with Deep Purple in the 70's, and with a successful and critically acclaimed solo career since the early 90's, Glenn's recent albums have featured his musical brother-in arms Chad Smith from the Red Hot Chili Peppers on drums. Glenn’s new album ‘FIRST UNDERGROUND NUCLEAR KITCHEN’ - due for release in May 2008 - again features Chad Smith on drums, and was produced by Glenn and engineered by Grammy award winning Jim Scott (Audioslave, Dixie Chicks) and promises to be the finest yet in a long and distinguished career."
