Old Cov can't scream anymore and that's what would help make them a perfect partnership. Coverdale can sing the low range without venturing too high and Glenn can do the full range complimenting Coverdale's bluesy tones.
I would completely disagree that Old Cov's voice is shot to pieces. Have you heard "Starkers in Tokyo". That is an unplugged album (1997) and he sounds the best he has in years. As good as the '70s because he is not screaming anymore.
The harmonies they used to do on Stormbringer are phenomenal. They could do them again. I have always thought Glenn's somewhat effeminate funky leanings are best complimented by Old Cov's masculine bluesy croons.
