While looking in my "archives" I dusted off this old Pat Thrall bio from a mag called Guitar Heroes (1983):

WHEN DID YOU BEGIN TO PLAY GUITAR
Seriously when I was 15 - I'd play drums for four years

WHY DID YOU START
You can only get so far on drums and I felt i had a natural interest for guitar

FIRST TYPE OF GUITAR
A Vox wildcat, which i rented for a year. I broke the E string and so i just carried on with the other five

MUSICAL TRAINING
Self taught

EARLY INFLUENCES
The first Tull album, early Steve Miller and a guy called Terry haggerty in San francisco

FIRST PUBLIC PERFORMANCE
As a drummer it was at a cub scout meeting in Alameda, California - we made two and a half bucks! My first gig as a guitarist was with a band called the Soul Agents and that was a free concert out on the beach

FIRST APPEARANCE ON RECORD
With Cookin' Mama, released in the bay area in 1971

RECORDING BANDS
Cookin' Mama, Stomu Yamashta, Automatic Man, Pat Travers and now Hughes-Thrall with Glenn

OTHER VINYL APPEARANCES
I worked with Narada Michael Walden on the Awakening LP and I also did a reggea album with Delroy Washington

EQUIPMENT (LIVE)
Stratocasters with Marshall amps. The effects I've got include a flanger delay, an echoplex, a flanger, a booster and a guitar synthesizer

STUDIO EQUIPMENT
Just about the same

NUMBER OF GUITARS OWNED
Five - I'm not a big collector

MOST MEMORABLE SOLO ON RECORD
Crossin' the line from the live "Go" album with Stomu Yamashta. For a mellow solo I also liked the one I did on I tried to believe, on the Pat Travers' Heat in the Street LP

OTHER GUITARISTS YOU ADMIRE
Allan Holdsworth, Gary Moore and Ulrich Roth
